Remi takes fundraising into her own hands and embarks upon a global adventure with a noble purpose. A striking first novel that you shouldn't hesitate to read! It would make a great movie too!
Once I started, I couldn't put this down. The author has a knack for keeping up the pace through the twists and turns of our young, female heroine's fascinating life and discoveries. A fun read - highly recommended!
"The Art of Peace" is a fantastic and exciting book that reads like a movie. Once you pick it up, you can't put it down. Our heroine, Remy is a modern day Robin Hood. She is a wonderful character who is conflicted about her actions as she steals priceless art and donates the profits to a worthy charity. Along the way, she finds strength and conviction from doing wrong for all the right reasons.
In The Art of Peace Yinka Thomas brings us into a world that I've never seen before in this kind of tale--that of a large non-profit organization. Not the kind of world where you'd expect Thomas's heroine Remi Austen to encounter desperate danger, as well as her own dark side. A futuristic, fast-paced thriller with lots of action and some truly James Bondian technology. Fun to read.
This breakout thriller by new author J Yinka Thomas blends a coming-of-age conundrum which many of us face, in terms of how we should define our own success and contribution to this world, with transcontinental adventure and intrigue that mixes some of the best elements of James Bond and Agatha Christie. Q would definitely want to steal some design ideas from the heroine's friend. Definitely looking forward to next in the series as we see Remi evolve along with us and the rest of the world!
Reading this book was an unqualified pleasure - well written and fast paced it left me holding my breath at the end. The heroine, Aderemi Austin is the new Nancy Drew for adult women who grew up on the stories of the girl sleuth. Her vulnerability and insecurity coupled with her intelligence and gritty strength in the face of danger drew me in and made me care about what happened to her. The high fashion James Bond technology is just plain fun. The backdrop story of the struggling nonprofit added depth and interest to the book. I look forward to the sequel and can visualize the movie! This is a perfect summer book, the only problem is that it was over too quickly!
Refreshing, empowering, illuminating, thrilling, and invigorating. This is J. Yinka Thomas' debut novel, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. This book was packed with so much juicy information about a wide variety of topics, e.g., the NGO-peace making process in Africa, and also displayed remarkable and believable insight into the technological possibilities of our future gadgets and functional designer clothing-wear. Finally, this intro of such promising complex and talented characters, like Aderemi Austin and Izi, make me very much look forward to future adventures on the book pages...and hopefully on the big screen. [Disclaimer the author is a close, dear friend of mine, so of course, I am enthusiastic about supporting her!]
